Croatian ministry of environmental protection and energy decided to initiate the public discussion regarding the environmental impact study on the floating LNG terminal NG terminal on the Island of Krk.
The public discussion was initiated following the government’s decision to develop a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) instead of a land-based LNG terminal.
During the 30-day discussion period, the public will have the opportunity for an insight of the complete study.
LNG Croatia, the state-owned company developing the liquefied natural gas import terminal on the island of Krk, has invited bidders to take part in the purchase of an FSRU and the construction of the terminal’s jetty and the connecting pipeline in September.
According to the project development schedule, FSRU to serve the project will be procured by the end of the current year with an expected delivery by the end of 2019.
Commercial operations at the terminal are planned to start at the beginning of 2020.
The company added in its statement that it will provide updates on the course of the environmental impact assessment process.
