Dutch ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) projects developer Bluerise has decided to increase the target for its ongoing crowdfunding campaign once again, after securing €500,000 two weeks before the campaign closes.

Bluerise launched the crowdfunding campaign on October 19, 2017, initially targeting €250,000 for the delivery of its OTEC project in the Caribbean.

However, just days after the campaign was launched Bluerise hit the initial goal and decided to open the campaign to overfunding with a revised target of €500,000.

The company said the additional funding would help it to accelerate the development of two OTEC projects in the Caribbean – in Jamaica and Curaçao.

Over the weekend, Bluerise has managed to reach its second goal of €500,000, opening up the campaign to overfunding once again, now targeting €750,000.

“To increase our impact and the growth of Bluerise as a company, we have decided to keep our campaign open for overfunding up to €750.000. It will enable us to further grow our team and speed up the preparations for the first two projects in the Caribbean,” the company said in a statement.

Right now, the crowdfunding website states Bluerise secured €504,560, or 202% of the initial funding goal, with 12 days left until the end of the campaign.
