French LNG containment systems specialist, GTT, has been chosen by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding and the shipowner CMA CGM to design cryogenic tanks for nine LNG-fueled containerships.
Of these nine units, the membrane tanks will be built by Hudong-Zhonghua, who will also be in charge of building five vessels, GTT said on Wednesday.
Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding has been contracted to build the remaining four vessels.
The deliveries of the nine vessels will take place starting at the end of 2019 through to the end of 2020.
CMA CGM’s containerships will be able to carry 22,000 containers each. GTT has been entrusted to design the fuel tanks featuring the Mark III technology with a capacity of 18,600 cubic meters for each ship.
