FortisBC, the operator of the only two LNG facilities in Canada’s British Columbia, has announced the death of its CEO Michael Mulcahy.

“The Board of Directors of FortisBC Inc. and FortisBC Energy Inc. regrets to advise of the sad news of the passing of its President and CEO, Michael Mulcahy after a short illness,” the company said in a statement on Monday.

Mr. Mulcahy was appointed president and chief executive on July 24, 2014.

He made many contributions to Fortis over his quarter century with the company, FortisBC said.

“He will be dearly missed by his colleagues and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Mulcahy family at this time,” the company said.

New leadership will be announced at FortisBC in the near future.
