Siem Offshore Contractors’ walk-to-work installation support vessel Siem Moxie has began work to support the completion of the inner-array grid cable installation on the Rentel offshore wind farm off the coast of Belgium.
SOC’s Siem Moxie went on charter to Tideway, part of Belgian DEME, to support the installation scope.
The Rentel wind farm is located approximately 34 km from the Port of Zeebrugge and approximately 40 km from Oostende off the Belgian coast.
It will consist of 42 Siemens D7 type wind turbines and will produce nearly 309 MW at its peak, supplying CO2 friendly electricity to 285.000 households.
The offshore wind farm is expected to deliver first power to the Belgian grid by mid-2018, while the entire offshore wind farm is planned to become fully operational by the end of 2018.
