Crane specialist Rusch Crane Services Middle East has been awarded the contract for replacement and refurbishment of 23 overhead cranes at Das Island offshore Abu Dhabi.

Rusch ME has been set up in September 2016 as a full licensed crane service company and as a subsidiary of Netherlands-based Rusch BV.

The company said on Wednesday that the overall contract from the Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Company (ADGAS) went to GOGAS/ACMT which subcontracted all crane-related work to Rusch ME.

Rusch added that this multi-million contract would create 18 months of work and that the contract would be supported by its Dutch head office in Medemblik.

Das Island is situated 110 km off the coast of Abu Dhabi and where oil and gas produced from the Umm Shaif, Zakum, and Nasr offshore fields is processed. The island facilities are also used as an export terminal for oil from the offshore fields of ADMA-OPCO, and for liquefied natural gas produced by ADGAS, both part of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) Group.

The signing ceremony of the contract between GOGAS/ACMT and Rusch ME took place during the ADIPEC Exhibition in Abu Dhabi.

According to the company, work will start this month with the first site visit for detailed engineering and work preparation. The actual refurbishment is expected to start in the first week of January 2018.
