Oregon State University (OSU) is looking to hire a Director for the Northwest National Marine Renewable Energy Center (NNMREC).

The NNMREC Director at OSU is a 12-month fixed term position reporting to the OSU Vice President for Research.

The incumbent Director will also hold a 9-month tenured position within the College of Engineering and must meet the College’s standards for tenured appointment, according to NNMREC.

The NNMREC Director at OSU will work with the other NNMREC Directors at the University of Washington (UW), and the University of Alaska (UAF), and the Director of the PMEC South Energy Test Site to lead the program with a clear vision, work effectively with University faculty, administration, and a broad range of external stakeholders to stimulate interdisciplinary research efforts.

The Director is expected to help maintain NNMREC’s marine energy research development and testing activities, continue to expand NNMREC’s research capabilities and funding sources, and encourage marine energy industries to partner with NNMREC.

The closing date for the applications to the position has been set for January 11, 2018.

NNMREC’s mission is to enable the sustainable development and advancement of wave, current, and offshore wind energy through research, development, and testing. This includes closing key gaps in scientific understanding, informing regulatory and policy decisions, and facilitating commercialization.

NNMREC is a research consortium between OSU, UWA, and UFA that was established in 2008 through competitive funding from the US Department of Energy (DOE).

More recently, DOE allocated $40 million to NNMREC to construct an open-water wave energy testing facility known as PMEC-SETS off Newport in Oregon.
