France’s Dunkirk LNG import terminal, the country’s fourth regasification facility, received its first ever Q-Max cargo from Qatar.
The 266,366-cbm Al Dafna, one of the world’s largest LNG tankers, arrived at the EDF-operated terminal on Sunday, Dunkerque LNG, the terminal operator said in a statement.
The 345m long and 54m wide Q-Max carrier is wholly-owned by Nakilat and chartered by LNG producer RasGas. There are only 14 LNG tankers of this type in the world and all are dedicated to Qatar’s deliveries.
The delivery is part of a mid-term supply deal EDF signed back in 2016 with RasGas for delivery of up to 2 million tonnes per annum of Qatari LNG into the Dunkirk facility.
Dunkerque LNG is 65 percent owned by France’s EDF, 25 percent by Belgium’s Fluxys and 10 percent by French Total.
