Belgian offshore wind developer Parkwind is looking for a provider of an export cable for the 228MW Northwester 2 wind farm in the Belgian North Sea.

The tendered contract is divided into lots and covers the design, manufacture, supply, installation and termination works on the export cable. Tenders can be submitted for all the lots.

The cable is a 225 kV 3 phase submarine cable and has an approximate length of 17 kilometres, Parkwind said.

The tender will remain open until 22 December.

Earlier this week, Parkwind issued a call for the design, construction, installation and commissioning of the Northwester 2 offshore high voltage substation (OHVS).

The Northwester 2 wind farm is located approximately 50 kilometres off the coast of Zeebrugge. The wind farm will be connected to Elia’s Modular Offshore Grid (MOG) scheduled to be operational in the third quarter of 2019.

Northwester 2 is one of three offshore wind projects to be built at a lower strike price following the recent agreement reached between the developers and the Belgian government.

Following the support scheme agreement, Parkwind announced it will accelerate project development activities and prepare for a financial close in 2018, after which the construction of the wind farm is expected to start by 2020.

Northwester 2 is currently owned by Parkwind (46%), Colruyt (30%), Incontrol (14%) and TTR (10%), with Parkwind leading the development, construction, and operational activities of the project on behalf of the project partners.
