Energy World Corporation signed an agreement securing land ownership and right of way access from its Pagbilao power plant to the Philippines’ National Grid connection point.
The land agreement follows the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines confirmation in October of the final location of their proposed New Pagbilao substation facility. This enabled EWC to identify the exact termination point for the right of way access for its LNG-fueled Pagbilao power plant to the substation.
The October deal enables the connection for the full 600 MW plant capacity once the substation is complete, which is expected to happen in December 2019.
Commenting on the deal, EWC’s director Brian Allen , said, “with this agreement not in place we will proceed to complete construction of the power plant and LNG terminal with a view to commencing commercial operations in 2018.”
Last month, the company said that it expects the facility to be completed in June 2018. The LNG hub will provide regasified LNG to the power plant being built adjacent to the LNG project. In the interim, the LNG will be provided from the LNG carrier Ocean Quest with the capacity to transport 128,000 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas.
The first unit at the Pagbilao power plant is planned to be brought online in March 2018 and the second unit within the following four months, subject to capacity available on the transmission systems.
