Prysmian Group is launching Power Link Cable Solutions, a new system that is said to provide a comprehensive management of subsea cable damages and minimize downtime and costs in the event of a fault.

Prysmian will present the new monitoring and maintenance service at the Wind Europe Event 2017 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

According to the company, the service is capable of offering a complete set of cloud-based systems, based mainly on PRY–CAM technology, providing a 24/7 wireless monitoring of subsea cables operating conditions, with the support of a team of technicians specialized in reading and interpreting the collected data.

The company has set up a marine base fully equipped with tools and facilities located in Middlesbrough, UK, required for maintenance interventions, a fleet with a semi-mobilized DP vessel and shallow water barge, as well as spares storage and management with a permanent engineering and offshore installation team.

Prysmian has recently won a contract with Réseau de Transport d’Électricité (RTE) to develop submarine cable links to connect three planned offshore wind farms to the mainland power grid in France, which was followed by two contracts for offshore wind farms in Germany and Denmark.

The two contracts include the delivery of inter-array cable systems for the Merkur offshore wind farm in Germany and the Horns Rev 3 offshore wind farm in Denmark, where the company is currently executing the cable supply.
