Malaysia’s Bintulu Port saw its revenues climb during the third quarter 2017, on the back of an increase in LNG vessels calling at the port.
There were 119 LNG vessels calling the port in the third quarter of 2017 against 109 calls in the corresponding period of 2016, the company said in a statement.
As a result, the company’s operating revenue rose by 28.7 percent to 178.2 million Malaysian ringgit ($43.3 million) for the quarter.
Revenue from the handling of LNG vessel calls and cargoes for the 9th months period in 2017 contributed 290.8 million Malaysian ringgit as against 263.7 million Malaysian ringgit during the same period 2016.
Bintulu Port adds that with the encouraging growth on the handling of LNG vessel calls and cargoes for the nine months, it will still be the company’s main revenue contributor for the year 2017.
The company recently signed an agreement with its compatriot, Petronas LNG , for the provision of marine services to support gassing up and cooling down of LNG carriers at the Bintulu Port for a period of three years.
The services at the Bintulu Port will commence in 2018, the company said in a statement, noting that the liquefied natural gas for gassing up services will be supplied from the Petronas LNG complex in Bintulu.
