LNG shipper Golar LNG said on Thursday that it expects production of first commercial liquefied natural gas from its FLNG Hilli Episeyo located offshore Kribi in Cameroon to take place around year end.
The world’s first FLNG conversion arrived in Cameroon on November 20, and hook-up and connection to risers and umbilicals is now underway, according to Golar.
To remind, the FLNG departed Keppel Shipyard on October 1 and left Singapore for Cameroon with 108 crew on board on October 12.
The FLNG was converted from a 1975 built Moss LNG carrier with a storage capacity of 125,000 cubic meters by Keppel.
It is designed for a liquefaction capacity of about 2.4 million tons of LNG per annum and will be put in operation for Société Nationale des Hydrocarbures and Perenco Cameroon.
Golar said in its third-quarter report that the next period will see tendering of a notice of readiness, which triggers commissioning rate toll fees.
A ship-to-ship transfer of LNG for commissioning purposes will be undertaken followed by commencement of the full commissioning process.
As part of this process, Golar expects production of first commercial LNG to take place around year end.
Final commissioning of the FLNG is expected to complete during the second part of the first quarter of 2018, Golar said.
