Supplier of generators, vessels and personnel to the offshore renewables sector Manor Renewable Energy Ltd. (MRE) has acquired the entire share capital of UK ship builders Manor Marine UK Limited (MM).

After several years of working together, the directors of the two companies finalized the deal in order to implement a strategic plan for growth.

Eric Briar , Director of MRE, said: “MM has been and continues to be a successful business, with over 30 years’ experience and a first-class track record; with their history and expertise, it allows MRE the diversification we have been targeting. This is an excellent opportunity to supplement our current provision with several additional key services, including fabrication and marine engineering, essential for our growth and continued expansion.”

According to MRE, the newly formed group will employ over 70 personnel across three offices and currently has between 40 and 50 subcontractors, primarily working on offshore projects.

MM’s facilities include vessel building sheds, a slipway, workshops, an office space, warehouses and a 500m² covered storage facility, MRE said.

MM founder John Tye , who remains at the helm, said: “Together with the investments we have made over the past five years, the 6000m² modern facility and a strong order book, we have a very exciting time ahead of us.”
