Marine renewables developer Naval Energies has decided to streamline its personnel of circa 100 people in order to secure the development of the company, consolidate its growth and support its teams.
It is expected that any reduction in headcount will be evenly split between France and Ireland. In France some people have already come back to Naval Group.
“At this stage, we cannot give any further details as we are starting discussions with the staff representatives on this subject,” the company added.
According to Naval Energies, the marine renewable energies market is progressing more slowly than initially foreseen. “This delay, which is also linked to a lack of visibility of the political will of certain states, including France, leads to focus our financial and human resources on the company’s highest-priority projects,” the company explains.
This new strategy aims to focus resources – both financial and human – on the highest-priority projects in tidal turbines, floating wind turbines and ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC).
The implementation of this personnel reduction will take place over the first half of 2018, according to a process that the company will define together with the staff representatives.
