The government of Wales is looking to enter into a framework agreement for a new energy service that will provide support for the delivery of renewable energy projects across the country.

Welsh government’s new energy service is being set up to provide technical, commercial and project management support needed to deliver energy and resource efficiency, and renewable energy projects that contribute to Welsh energy and decarbonization targets.

The support includes scoping opportunities, identifying projects, and supporting the existing and new clients to take appropriate strategic projects through to delivery, the Welsh government said on its procurement site Sell2Wales.

The new service will bring together a number of existing strands of work, that currently exist under the Local Energy Service and Green Growth Wales areas of work.

The Welsh Government Energy Service is expected to be flexible enough to respond to new opportunities as they arise, the government said.

The procurement involves the establishment of a framework agreement with a single operator, and is open for applications until January 19, 2018.

The contract duration is set for 4 years, while the estimated value for the full framework term is £10 million.

Welsh government anticipates its new energy service will start in April 2018.
