Vattenfall has selected Fred. Olsen Windcarrier to supply a crew transfer vessel (CTV) to service the 110MW Lillgrund offshore wind farm in Sweden.

One of Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s Bayard class vessels will start its work this month, and will spend five years on the site.

“We are delighted to work with Vattenfall and look forward to a strengthening our working relationship,” said Thomas Lund , Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s Sales Manager.

The Lillgrund offshore wind farm is located some 10km off the southern coast of Sweden and is the country’s largest operating offshore wind farm.

The wind farm, comprising 48 Siemens 2.3MW turbines, was commissioned in May 2013.

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier operates a fleet of seven CTVs. The Bayard catamarans are equipped with low impact fender systems and can adjust their draft to limit their movement.

According to the company, the DNV-classed vessels are equipped with a VSAT system and offer enough deck space to cater for spare parts and tools, as well as to carry two 10-foot-long containers.
