The European Technology and Innovation Platform for Ocean Energy (ETIP Ocean) has arranged a webinar dedicated to adaptive management systems for ocean energy technologies.

Adaptive management techniques can make ocean energy development vastly more efficient by incorporating lessons learnt in previous project cycles to the next stage of project development, according to ETIP Ocean.

The adaptive management techniques ultimately lead to a better projects’ performance, including lesser environmental impact and a better technical outcome, ETIP Ocean said.

The webinar, to be held on December 13, 2017, will host a panel of leading experts to share their knowledge of the ins and outs of adaptive management systems for ocean energy devices.

The speakers include Finlay Bennet and Phil Gilmore from Marine Scotland, and Frank Fortune from marine consultancy Royal HaskoningDHV.

All discussion and feedback to arise from the webinar will feed into the organization’s official recommendations to the European Commission, ETIP Ocean noted.

The webinar is free to attend, and requires registration .

ETIP Ocean is regarded as an advisory body to the European Commission. It is managed by Ocean Energy Europe and the University of Edinburgh, bringing together around 250 experts from 150 organizations covering the entire European ocean energy sector.
