Pakistan’s second LNG import terminal, developed by the state-owned Pakistan GasPort, has suffered a setback with an infrastructure failure resulting in cargoes being diverted or canceled.

Local media reported that the failure occurred in the underground pipeline connecting BW’s FSRU BW Integrity to the shore, as it failed to inject the regasified LNG into the system.

The repairs are expected to take up to 10 days, Reuters reports citing trade sources also saying that the exact extent of the repairs is unknown and could lead to further delays of the operations restart at the terminal.

Two cargoes have already been canceled or diverted from the terminal, with Pakistan scrambling to delay or cancel any incoming shipments or even declare force majeure on deliveries until the repairs are completed.

The terminal that will at peak regasify and deliver 750 million standard cubic feet of natural gas per day to the transmission system has been inaugurated on November 20.
