Minesto Hires Leask Marine for Deep Green Work

Minesto has appointed Leask Marine as an offshore installation contractor to execute the installation of all the balance of plant for Minesto’s Deep Green 500kW project in Holyhead Deep off the coast of North West Wales.

The contract comprises the installation and hook-up of three significant balance of plant components, namely concrete gravity base foundation structure, buoy containing a micro grid and communications system, and power transfer fastening comprising of the top joint, tether, bottom joint and subsea umbilical.

The DG500 project is the first installation of Minesto’s marine energy technology in utility scale.

The project is planned for commissioning and operation in 2018.

They have a track record for identifying safe, innovative and cost-effective solutions for installing subsea structures in high tidal flows and other marine energy environments.
