Cables specialist Nexans Norway, part of the French Nexans group, has completed the laying and burial of the first 70-kilometer 220kV export cable which will connect the 588MW Beatrice offshore wind farm to the Scottish grid.
The cable laying vessel Nexans Skagerrak kicked off the installation campaign of the first of two Beatrice export cables at the end of September this year.
Another cabling project, which started in November on behalf of Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Ltd (BOWL), is also underway with the cable laying vessel (CLV) Siem Aimery laying up to 24 inter-array cables for the first part of the installation campaign.
The Beatrice construction site has also recently seen Seaway Heavy Lifting’s vessel, Stanislav Yudin, install a final set of 86 in total offshore foundation piles. Next up on this part of the project are eighty four jackets that will support the Beatrice wind turbines, due in summer 2018.
Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Ltd (BOWL), the owner and developer of the wind farm, is a joint venture partnership between SSE (40%), Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (35%) and Red Rock Power Ltd. (25%).
