Wavecraft’s crew transfer vessel (CTV) Umoe Rapid has won a 12-month charter to provide crew and cargo transfer during turbine installation work at an offshore wind farm in Germany.

According to Wavecraft, the vessel has started the charter recently and is working on one of Germany’s largest and most distant offshore wind farms.

Umoe Rapid was delivered in May 2017 and is currently under commercial and operational management by World Marine Offshore.

In August, the CTV completed its first charter at the Hywind Scotland floating wind farm and at the Dudgeon offshore wind farm for Statoil, also providing crew and cargo transfer.

The vessel has a performance of 45kn maximum speed and 40kn service speed, safe boatlanding in up to 2.5m wave height, and 25 percent reduction in fuel consumption, Wavecraft said.

Umoe Rapid has expanded safe accessibility of wind turbines and other offshore installations to an average of 33 technicians per day, the company said.
