VBMS has contracted Niels Winther Shipping as the preferred supplier of agency services for the 406MW Horns Rev 3 offshore wind farm project located in the Danish North Sea.

Throughout the project, Niels Winther Shipping’s Marine Services department will be responsible for providing 24/7 full logistics support out of Esbjerg/Hvide Sande, including warehousing, stevedoring, customs and long-term accommodation of the project team among several other tasks related to local support of the vessels working on the project.

According to Niels Winther Shipping, the new contract follows the companies’ previous cooperation on the Dantysk and Sandbank projects.

“We are always keen on providing high quality services in order to ensure swift and smooth operations for our clients. Having the chance to continue our cooperation with VBMS is a great recognition for us. With constant dedication, flexibility and service oriented attitude our staff is looking forward to the start of the project,” said Søren Clemmensen , Head Of Marine Services at Niels Winther Shipping.

VBMS won the contract by Vattenfall, the developer of the wind farm, for the installation of 33kV inter-array cables on the Horns Rev 3 offshore wind farm in June last year.

Horns Rev 3, an extension to Horns Rev 1 and 2, will feature 49 MHI Vestas V164-8.0MW turbines, optimized at 8.3MW.

Once commissioned in 2018, it will be the largest offshore wind farm in Danish waters.
