The 111MW Nordergründe offshore wind farm is now officially in full operation, after the last of the total of 18 Senvion 6.2M126 wind turbines was connected to the grid yesterday, 17 December.

This final milestone for the project was delayed for a year after BVT, the company in charge of building the substation, entered insolvency in the third quarter of 2016, and the remaining works on the substation were later carried out by several sub-contractors.

The substation was installed in the second half of September 2017, with TenneT commissioning the grid connection for the Nordergründe offshore wind farm on 31 October .

In addition to wpd, the co-shareholders of the Nordergründe offshore wind farm are John Laing Group plc and the Gothaer Insurance Group.
