CorPower Ocean is looking for wave energy professional to take up one of the key roles in the company – that of Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

As an Engineering Manager/CTO for CorPower Ocean, the successful candidate will be tasked with overseeing the technical product development of the company.

The scope of work entails leading a multi-disciplinary development team, as well as coordinating all technical activities from planning and design, through to testing.

Also, one of the responsibilities for the job is to drive design improvements and cost reductions to take the current wave energy prototypes to a commercial product with full certification and warranties.

CorPower Ocean noted the candidate should have a minimum of years of relevant experience from leading technical development of complex systems and industrial equipment.

The deadline to apply for the position has been set for January 26, 2018.

The design principle of CorPower’s wave energy device is inspired by the pumping principles of the human heart and offers five times more energy per ton of device compared to previously known technology, according to the company.

The device uses a power take-off (PTO) system that combines the high load capabilities from hydraulics with the efficiency of mechanical drive to produce power.

Following the dry test program in Stockholm, the CorPower C3 wave energy converter was delivered to a workshop in Orkney late in December 2017.

The device is planned for installation and on-site commissioning at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) Scapa Flow test site early this year.
