Teekay’s first Arctic liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier, the 172,000-cbm Eduard Toll, is scheduled to be delivered by the end of January 2018.
The ARC 7 LNG vessel successfully completed sea and gas trials and “the team is getting her ready for delivery in January 2018,” Teekay said in a brief statement through its social media channels.
As previously reported, the LNG carrier was launched in January last year at the South Korean Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard.
It is first of Teekay’s six newbuilds to be constructed for the Novatek-operated Yamal LNG project in Russia, that recently shipped its first cargoes to Europe.
The vessel has been designed and built to perform year-round navigation through the Arctic and has the icebreaking ability allowing it to proceed through ice up to 2.1 m thick, according to Teekay.
