The Carbon Trust-led Floating Wind Joint Industry Project (JIP) has opened tenders for monitoring and inspection, as well as for dynamic export cable development.

In the first tender , the Floating Wind JIP would like to investigate the requirements specific to monitoring and inspection of floating offshore wind assets in key geographic markets.

The winner of the tender would also be in charge of the identification of technology innovations to adopt less conservative requirements and reduce costs.

The second tender seeks companies interested in investigating the challenges and assisting the development of high voltage dynamic power cables for export purposes in floating offshore wind farms.

Clarification questions for the tenders should be sent by 15 January, while the answers will be posted on Carbon Trust’s webpage by 19 January.

The closing date for applications is 23:59 local time on 26 January 2018.

Established in 2016 , the Floating Wind JIP is a collaborative R&D initiative between The Carbon Trust, EnBW, ENGIE, Eolfi, E.ON, Iberdrola, innogy, Kyuden Mirai Energy, Ørsted, Shell, Statoil, Vattenfall, and Wpd.

Supported by the Scottish Government, the JIP aims to investigate the challenges and opportunities of developing commercial-scale floating wind farms.
