Polish Oil and Gas Company (PGNiG) delivered over 1 billion cubic meters of natural gas to the Ukrainian market in the August 2016-December 2017 period.
In 2017 alone, PGNiG’s natural gas supplies to Ukraine doubled reaching 700 million cubic meters per year, the company said on Wednesday.
Speaking of the deliveries boost, PGNiG’s vice-president Maciej Woźniak , said, “portfolio of gas in our offer is well diversified: it comes from our domestic production in Poland and from various import directions. In the first three quarters of 2017, 12 percent of our total import came via LNG terminal in Swinoujscie (South-West Baltic Sea coast) mainly from Qatar, Norway and the USA.”
Woźniaknoted the company plans to stop imports from Russia after 2022 when its long-term deal with Gazprom expires.
PGNiG started delivering gas to Ukraine in August 2016 via a direct interconnector, and the deliveries could be further boosted with the expansion of the physical capacity of the Polish-Ukrainian interconnector.
In October 2017 the Company signed framework agreements with the Ukrainian gas system operator Ukrtransgaz for gas storage and transmission pipeline capacities in Ukraine.
