Spain’s imports of liquefied natural gas dropped by 16.6 percent in December on a yearly basis, according to the data provided by the LNG terminal operator, Enagás.
LNG imports reached 16.81 terawatt hours (TWh) in November as compared to 20.16 TWh in the same month the year before, the data shows.
Breaking down the LNG imports by countries, Qatar was the biggest supplier to Spain and these volumes rose 39 percent on year to 5 TWh.
The second and the third place belong to Peru and Algeria with supplies reaching 3.86 TWh and 3.30 TWh, respectfully.
Nigeria’s Bonny LNG export plant supplied 1.85 TWh of the fuel to Spain in December. Compared to the same month the year before, these volumes dropped 69 percent.
The rest of the December LNG imports to Spain came from US, Norway and Trinidad.
The Barcelona regasification plant received 9 LNG cargoes out of the total 20 cargoes imported into Spain during the month under review.
The data shows that the Huelva LNG terminal received 6 shipments while Bilbao took 3 cargoes.
LNG import terminals in Sagunto and Mugardos received one LNG, cargo each. The Mugardos facility also reloaded one small cargo of 216 GWh during December.
