The Peruvian liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility at Pampa Melchorita has shipped the first cargo of 2018 to Spain.
According to the shipping data provided by the state-owned Perupetro, the 2002-built LNG carrier, Excalibur capable of transporting 138,000 cubic meters of the chilled fuel departed the facility on January 1 and set course for Spain.
Perupetro has not disclosed the exact destination of the vessel, however, it is currently in the South Atlantic and heading for Bilbao, Spain, according to the marine data provider, VesselsValue.
With the first cargo of 2018, Peru’s LNG export facility shipped 439 vessels in total since it started operations in June 2010.
The 4.45 million tons per year gas liquefaction plant is located 170 kilometers south of Lima and receives gas via a 408-kilometer pipeline built across the Andes.
