James Fisher Subsea Excavation (JFSE) has established James Fisher Ocean Team Ltd, a China-based joint venture with Ocean Team Asia Pacific (OTAP).

The new company will focus on setting up mass/controlled flow excavation (M/CFE) as a time and cost-effective solution for projects in the developing offshore renewables sector, as well as developing opportunities in the oil & gas sector, JFSE said.

Equipment will be positioned in China permanently in order to enable efficient mobilization, with local operational and project management delivering JFSE’s M/CFE services alongside the company’s experts, combining regional knowledge with M/CFE expertise for clients in the expanding Chinese market.

“Establishing this new venture shows our level of commitment to clients in China and significantly enhances the services we can provide,” Richard Beattie , Regional Director Asia Pacific at JFSE, said.

“China is an important and growing marketplace. Increasing our presence here is part of our strategic development plan for the continued growth of our business.”

JFSE’s team has been present in the region for eight years and its suite of tools already completed numerous projects for Chinese clients, including pipeline and cable trenching, deburial and free-span correction works. In addition, JFSE and OTAP have been cooperating for more than four years by supporting each other on several projects.

Roger Wang , CEO of OTAP, said: “This is an important step for us to increase and enhance how we can develop JFSE’s M/CFE offering in China. Establishing a local company, contacts and equipment base in China is vitally important to truly realise the potential of our growing marketplace.”
