The shopping spree for Japanese shipping company Nisshin Shipping is not over based on brokers’ reports which have linked the company to an order for up to ten new bulkers.

Chinese shipbuilder Nantong Xiangyu Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering Co., a fairly new market entrant established in 2016, secured the order for ten 63,500 dwt bulk carriers, data from Asiasis shows.

The bulkers are set for delivery in 2020 and 2021, according to the report.

The order comes in the wake of Nisshin’s major fleet modernization plan launched last year comprising of up to 25 ships, worth around USD 666 million.

The ships that were ordered included four small chemical tankers, seven Ultramax bulk carriers, and 14 Panamax bulkers.

Nisshing Shipping has a live fleet of 55 vessels, comprising 33 bulkers and 22 tankers, according to the data from VesselsValue.

The company has 37 newbuildings made up of 26 bulkers and 11 small chemical tankers on order spread across Chinese Jiangsu Hantong Shipbuilding and Japanese shipbuilders Oshima and Usuki Zosensho.
