Marine Institute of Ireland is looking to hire a Scientific and Technical Officer (STO) to support marine renewables testing activities at the Galway Bay Test Site.

The successful candidate will work within the Oceanographic Services section’s ocean energy team to support the provision of operational services at Galway Bay Marine and Renewable Energy Test Site.

Working together with Ocean Science and Information Services staff and various partners, the STO will be responsible for supporting the delivery of a range of marine services and supports to underpin elements of the EU-funded FORESEA and MaRINET2 projects.

To remind, the Irish government has in December 2017 granted foreshore lease to the Marine Institute to install a quarter scale renewable energy test site at Galway Bay.

Under the 35-year lease, the developers will be able to test wave energy devices, as well as floating offshore wind turbines at the site.

The deadline to apply for the position has been set for February 1, 2018.
