The Danish government has opened the first round of applications for the Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Program (EUDP) in support of the development of new green energy technology in 2018.
The first round of applications for the EUDP fund includes up to DKK 230 million (around EUR 31 million) offered across all technologies relevant to the green energy conversion, with the deadline for applications 2 March.
The Danish Minister of Energy, Utilities and Climate, Lars Chr. Lilleholt, said that he hopes there will be a lot of applications because EUDP-supported projects help increase exports of energy technology and create growth and employment.
“Denmark has joined the international cooperation Mission Innovation, whose task is to strengthen international cooperation on new energy research. The EUDP plays a major role in the government’s efforts to double energy research funds by 2020,” said Lilleholt .
According to Lilleholt, although Danish companies are competent in seizing opportunities for the development of renewable energy as part of the green transformation, many ideas and technologies need help with launching. Thus, the funds from the EUDP program are an important investment both in climate and in jobs, the minister said.
The second and final round of the program this year is expected to open in September. In 2018, the program will award DKK 400 million, while the amount is expected to increase to at least DKK 500 million by 2020.
