Russia’s Novatek, the operator of the recently commissioned giant Yamal LNG export project, has sold a first gas condensate cargo from the Arctic facility.
“First (gas condensate) cargo of 18,000 tonnes was loaded,” Reuters cited a Novatek spokesman as saying on Monday.
According to the agency, Vitol is the buyer of the cargo.
The three-train Yamal LNG plant, designed to produce about 16.5 million tonnes per year, started liquefying natural gas from the South Tambey field on the Yamal Peninsula in December.
The export project’s first liquefaction train will gradually ramp up capacity to 5.5 million tonnes. Other two trains are expected to come onstream in 2018 and 2019.
When fully commissioned, Yamal LNG is expected to produce over 1 million tonnes of gas condensate a year.
