Energy XXI, an oil and gas company focused on the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, has reportedly hired White Fleet Drilling’s jack-up rig.

According to information provided by VesselsValue, a website providing intel on offshore and shipping world, Energy XXI hired the WFD 350 jack-up rig on a six-month term deal.

The fixing date for the deal was on January 31 with the start day set for February 25. VesselsValue added that the WFD 350 rig would work until August 25 on a dayrate of $55,000.

The rig was formerly known as the Hercules 350 while it was owned by now-defunct Hercules Offshore who sold the rig as part of a 13-rig package an auction in early 2017 to Enterprise Offshore Drilling.

Hercules, liquidated since 2016, bought the rig in February 2008 from Transocean for $125 million. Enterprise Offshore in January 2017 bought 13 rigs for a little over $22.25 million, or $1.71 million per rig.

The Hercules 350 was named WFD 350 after it became a part of White Fleet Drilling’s fleet the following month for an undisclosed price.

The rig is of a Marathon Le Tourneau Class 116-C design, built by Davie Shipbuilding Ltd Lauzon, Quebec, in 1982.
