GNL Quintero, the Chilean regasification facility, said it had loaded the 50,000th truck with liquefied natural gas (LNG) at its truck loading station.
The truck loading station has been operating since 2011 and consists of four independent loading bays.
Trucks deliver LNG to markets throughout the country not served by natural gas pipelines. The fuel is used for both industrial and residential purposes.
Since 2014, the facility has had a capacity to load 2,500 cbm of LNG per day or around 50 trucks. This follows the addition of two new loading bays that doubled the facility’s loading capacity.
GNL Quintero said in a statement that the facility has become a fundamental part of the terminal as an LNG distribution channel that has accompanied the development of the natural gas industry in Chile.
Quintero LNG terminal is the first land-based plant for the reception, unloading, storage and regasification of LNG in the southern hemisphere. It started operations in 2009.
GNL Quintero is a joint venture of Enap (20%), Enagás (40%), Omers Infrastructure Chile Holdings (29.6%) and the rest is held by Terminal de Bahía de Quintero formed by Enagás and Omers.
