South Korea’s Kogas, the world’s second-largest corporate buyer of LNG, reported a 20.4 percent increase in its domestic natural gas sales in January.
Kogas said in a statement on Monday it sold 4.88 million tonnes of LNG equivalent last month, as compared to 4.05 million tonnes in January 2017.
Sales in the power generation sector rose 25.2 percent to 1.85 million tonnes while city gas sales reached 3.03 million tonnes, up by 17.7 percent on year, Kogas said.
Kogas operates in total 72 LNG storage tanks in South Korea. It imports about 96 percent of Korea’s LNG demand via its four terminals, namely Incheon, Pyeongtaek, Tongyeong and Samcheok.
