The fourth liquefied natural gas storage tank at the Singapore LNG facility is set to be completed in the first half of the year.
The fourth storage tank will increase the facility’s storage capacity by 260,000 cubic meters to a total of 800,000 cubic meters.
“This is in excess of our needs to fulfill domestic requirements, and it creates capacity and the opportunity to leverage this for other applications and business purposes,” S. Iswaran , Singapore’s minister for trade and industry said in his address at an event.
SLNG, the owner and operator of our LNG terminal, will make a call for proposals later this year to use its spare capacity and we invite interested parties to explore this opportunity with SLNG, he said.
SLNG also intends to commission a nitrogen blending facility this year, which will enable Singapore to accept a wider range of cargoes with varying LNG specifications.
Iswaran said that a number of companies are interested in utilizing Singapore LNG terminal’s spare capacity to conduct storage and reload services.
He further added that Singapore is advancing its efforts to boost its LNG bunkering sector, following the launching of Singapore’s first LNG truck loading facility at the terminal.
