Cheniere’s Corpus Christi LNG export project could start producing the first liquefied natural gas before the end of the year.

Speaking at an LNG industry conference, Cheniere Marketing’s director origination Douglas Wharton said the company is hopeful of starting LNG production by the end of the year, adding significant progress has been made on the third liquefaction train, Reuters reports.

He added a final investment decision on the third train is expected soon.

In its monthly filing with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Cheniere noted that the project reached an overall completion of 82.7 percent.

“Train 1 is projected to achieve substantial completion in the 1st half of 2019 and Train 2 in the 2nd half of 2019,” the filing reads.

According to the report, construction has turned 65 systems over to startup at the end of January, and all the activities planned for the month of February were on track.
