The first of the 174 transition pieces has been installed on Ørsted’s 1.2GW Hornsea Project One offshore wind farm.

GeoSea’s Innovation and A2SEA’s Sea Installer are involved in the installation of the transition pieces on the site some 120 kilometres off the coast of Yorkshire.

The first monopile foundation was installed on the wind farm by Innovation in late January.

Hornsea Project One consists of 174 Siemens 7MW wind turbines, connected to three offshore collector substations and a reactive compensation substation (RCS), the latter located between the offshore wind farm and the shore.

Once commissioned in 2020, Hornsea One will be the largest operating wind farm in the world.
