Norway’s offshore safety agency, the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA), has given Lundin Norway its consent to drill an exploration well in the North Sea with the COSLInnovator rig.

The exploration well 16/1-28 S is located in block 16/1 and it belongs to production license 338 in the North Sea. Drilling is scheduled to begin in March 2018 and will last around 110 days, the safety authority said on Friday.

The well is to be drilled by the COSLInnovator, which is a semi-submersible drilling rig constructed at the Yantai Raffles Shipyard in China and owned by COSL Drilling..

The PSA issued an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) to COSLInnovator in March 2012.

Lundin hired the semi-submersible drilling rig COSLInnovator for one well offshore Norway back in July 2017. The contract contained an extension option for eight more wells.

As reported by Offshore Energy Today i n late January, Lundin has already exercised its first option in the contract for the COSL Drilling-owned drilling rig.
