One worker lost his life in an accident at the Freeport LNG export facility located near Freeport, Texas.

Without revealing details of the incident, Freeport LNG’s spokesperson told LNG World News that the incident occurred on Thursday last week.

The worker in question was employed by a subcontractor of the project’s EPC contractor, although no names have been specified.

The first two trains at the facility on Quintana Island have been designed and are being constructed by a joint venture between CB&I and Zachry Industrial, a Zachry Group company, while the third liquefaction train job has been awarded to a CB&I, Zachry, Chiyoda joint venture.

The spokesperson further noted that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

The initial three liquefaction trains of the Freeport liquefaction project are currently under construction and are scheduled to commence operations sequentially between fourth quarter in 2018 and third quarter in 2019.

Each liquefaction train will have a capacity in excess of 5 mtpa.

About 13.4 mtpa of the production capacity from the first three liquefaction trains has been contracted under use-or-pay liquefaction tolling agreements with Osaka Gas, JERA, BP, Toshiba Corp. and SK E&S LNG.
