Eight months after the start, the construction of OOS International’s newbuild semi-submersible heavy lift crane vessel (SSCV) OOS Serooskerke is making progress.
Being built by China Merchants Industry Holdings, the OOS Serooskerke is the first of two units OOS ordered from the Chinese back in August 2016.
The first steel was cut in June 2017 and a keel laying ceremony was held last December .
OOS, a Dutch provider of offshore heavy lift and accommodation solutions, said on Monday that all the structural steel work on the OOS Serooskerke had been completed.
“The blocks are now undergoing internal outfitting and painting before being erected onto the unit, the deck boxes are currently being placed onto the vessel,” the company added.
The expected completion of all erection work is scheduled for June 2018, which is on time according to the construction and delivery plan.
Once complete in 2Q 2019, the vessel will be ready to enter the market and able to accomplish decommissioning and other heavy lift operations worldwide.
It will be able to accommodate 750 persons on board and it will have two heavy lift Huisman cranes with a total tandem lift capacity of 4,400t, and will have the capability to reach a speed up to 12 knots.
There is also an option to accommodate P&A activities with a transferable DES unit.
