Five crew transfer vessels (CTVs) owned and operated by Turbine Transfers Limited were beached and suffered damage as Storm Emma was ravaging through Holyhead Marina.

The vessels have now been successfully retrieved, the company said. The extent of the damage to the five CTVs is unknown.

In the early hours of the 2nd of March, Holyhead Marina suffered a catastrophic failure during Storm Emma.

The floating pontoons at the marina broke free from their moorings in unprecedented conditions and more than 70 boats, including fishing boats and a number of commercial vessels belonging to Turbine Transfers, the parent company Holyhead Towing and the UK Border Force were washed ashore at the western end of the outer harbour at Holyhead, the company said.

In addition, the company also assisted other boat owners and was able to retrieve the UK Border Force vessel ‘Active’ that had also beached following the storm, as well as three other private vessels.
