Polish gas grid and LNG terminal operator Gaz-System is interested in cooperating with Australian companies in the liquefied natural gas sector.
As part of those efforts to invite Australian companies to take part in Gaz-System’s projects, representatives of Gaz-System, including chief executive Tomasz Stępień , are currently in Perth in Australia to attend an oil and gas conference.
“Our goal is to attract more Australian companies to work with Gaz-System, particularly in the field of LNG technology and construction of gas pipelines, including subsea pipelines,” Stępień said in a statement.
Gaz-System is currently developing several gas and LNG projects that, according to the company, have the potential to change the gas market in Central and Eastern Europe.
The projects include the Northern Gate concept, the Baltic Pipe Program as well as the expansion of Poland’s first LNG terminal in Świnoujście.
Gaz System operates the LNG facility through its unit Polskie LNG. The expansion activities include boosting regasification capacities from 5 bcm to 7.5 bcm of natural gas annually, building the second LNG jetty as well as adding LNG bunkering infrastructure.
As Australia is one of the world’s largest LNG exporters with some of the biggest projects located in the country, Australia’s experience in the LNG sector could be beneficial to Poland.
“There is a large number of investment-related challenges we are going to face. We would like to invite Australian companies to collaborate with us. We encourage Australian companies to take part in tenders related both to the LNG terminal and the construction of the new gas pipelines,” Gaz-System’s Stępień said.
