Following the installation of its 1,600-tonne crane onboard Van Oord’s vessel Aeolus, Huisman has shared a video showing a summary of the works.

Heerema’s vessel Thialf installed the new crane onboard Aeolus on 28 February, making the vessel ready to handle the latest generation of foundations and turbines for offshore wind projects.

The crane was installed while the two vessels were in Port of Rotterdam’s Calandkanaal, after which Aeolus was shifted to Damen Verolme Rotterdam for completion of the upgrade.

Van Oord said its upgraded vessel will be ready for work from spring 2018.
