Prosafe has been awarded a contract with British oil major BP for the provision of an accommodation vessel in the North Sea.
Prosafe said on Monday that the deal was signed with BP’s subsidiary BP Exploration Operating Company Limited.
The flotel fleet owner added that the contract was for the accommodation vessel Safe Caledonia which would work at the Clair Ridge platform West of Shetland in the UK sector of the North Sea.
Safe Caledonia will provide gangway-connected operations to support hook up and commissioning activities.
The five-month contract, valued at approximately $13.5 million, will begin at the end of May 2018.
The last time Offshore Energy Today reported on the vessel was in September 2017 when it was awarded a charter extension by Total E&P UK.
At the time, the Safe Caledonia was working at the Elgin-Franklin offshore platform in the UK sector of the North Sea.
As for the Clair Ridge project, it is the second phase of development of the Clair field which has an estimated eight billion barrels of oil in place.
The Clair field is located 75 km west of the Shetland Islands in 150 m of water and extends over an area of 220 km². The field was originally discovered in 1977 and it started producing oil in February 2005.
