Statoil has received consent from the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) to use the Haven accommodation rig on the Johan Sverdrup field offshore Norway.
The PSA said on Tuesday that Statoil was given a consent to use the Haven rig for living quarters in connection with the development from June 2018 until December 2019.
Haven is a jack-up accommodation unit owned by Jacktel, a subsidiary of Master Marine. The rig was built in Indonesia in 2011 and registered in Cyprus.
Haven was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AOC) by the PSA in July 2011.
Statoil awarded a contract to Jacktel, a subsidiary of Master Marine, for providing accommodation services on the field in the North Sea in November 2015. The contract is scheduled to start in June.
The rig is currently being upgraded by the UAE-based provider of rig services Lamprell. The company is on track to complete the upgrade related to strength and length of the legs, including the provision of new spud-cans/suction-caissons, during the second quarter of 2018 .
As for Johan Sverdrup, the project will be developed in several phases, and the PDO for phase 2 will be submitted to Norwegian authorities in the second half of 2018.
The development concept for Phase 1 of Johan Sverdrup establishes a field center consisting of four platforms on the field. Phase 2 builds on this infrastructure, adding another processing platform to the field center. Overall, this will result in a processing capacity of 660,000 barrels of oil per day.
