Austria’s Palfinger Marine has secured a contract for replacement of six large lifeboat stations for an accommodation vessel owned by Norway-based Edda Accommodation.
Palfinger Marine said on Tuesday that it was chosen as the supplier of six large lifeboat stations for the Edda Fides accommodation vessel.
The scope of the deal consists of six large, totally enclosed lifeboats, with accompanying davits. Each lifeboat has a capacity of 150 persons in standard Solas mode.
Robin Holmedal Pedersen , area sales manager LSE, said: “We have been working closely with Edda Accommodation on this project and found the best technical solution for their needs. Edda Accommodation’s request was to increase the lifeboat capacity as much as possible so that they are able to meet requirements from their customers worldwide.”
The company added that the seating arrangement for Edda Fides lifeboats was specially designed and even goes beyond standard Solas regulations.
In addition, Palfinger secured a five-year service agreement for the equipment. Delivery is scheduled for September 2018.

According to the vessel owner, the Edda Fides is the largest single hulled vessel specially designed as a floatel servicing the oil and gas industry. Edda Fides has a capacity of 600 beds spread over 330 cabins. The vessel measures 130 meters from bow to stern and was built in 2011 at the Asterillos Barreras yard, in Spain. The design was constructed to keep a stable position under stormy weather.
